Since a young age, I have always been a fan of Penguin Books and at the tender of age of 21 (cough cough 28 cough cough), I still read Penguin Books.
My current read at the moment is F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, I had never heard of the book until I watched the story unfold on the big screen a couple of years ago and since then I have become a massive fan of the works of Fitzgerald.
To celebrate Penguin Books’ 80th birthday they have kindly given me a copy of one of their newest book releases of Sally Green’s Good, Bad or Half Bad, which I am going to give away to one of my lucky readers.
Good, Bad or Half Bad is a breathtaking debut novel about one boy’s struggle for survival in a hidden society of witches.
Here’s an excerpt from the blurb:
You can’t read, can’t write, but you heal fast, even for a witch. You get sick if you stay indoors after dark. You hate White Witches but love Annalise, who is one. You’ve been kept in a cage since you were fourteen. All you’ve got to do is escape and find Mercury, the Black Witch who eats boys. And do that before your seventeenth birthday.
This book has been described as:
‘A book about witches with no owls and not a pair of round spectacles in sight. The new Hunger Games,I suspect… Brilliant and utterly compelling – I loved it.’ Kate Atkinson, author of Life after Life and Behind the Scenes of the Museum
‘Teens rejoice: the inheritor to Stephenie Meyer’s crown has arrived.’ Fiona Wilson, The Times
‘Edgy, arresting and brilliantly written, Half Bad grips you from the first page and doesn’t let go.’ Michael Grant, author of Gone
Here’s a short video of Sally Green discussing her novel:

Growing up for me was all about books and as a young adult the majority of my time I would be found lost between the covers of a good book. Penguin books were always the tried, tested, quality reads that you could always guarantee that would become much loved stories to many-if they weren’t already a classic! Whether I was discovering Frankenstein or The Time Machine because I wanted to experience the hype for myself or because GCSEs of the time demanded we studied Pride and Prejudice – the story was would be well written, enjoyable and leave me thirsty for my next book. Thanks for the chance and fingers crossed x
